Creativity and Respect for Nature in the LUSH Office Workspace
An international cosmetic retailer founded with a chain of stores across the UK, LUSH offers fresh, handmade skincare and body products. With its entire range made from natural, organic ingredients and a famously strict policy against animal testing, LUSH’s mission hinges entirely on a deep respect for nature.
In-line with their zest for nature and eclectic office aesthetic, LUSH wanted us to create a vibrant planting scheme for their head office that would inspire creativity in their employees. It was also very important that the scheme respect the company’s zero-waste policy, which is inherent to their values.

First and foremost, we wanted to find a way of fulfilling this planting contract that would honour LUSH’s zero-waste policy. We achieved this by reusing the pots and certain plants that were already on-site, giving them a new lease of life by rehoming them and reimagining how they might fit into the office decor. Plants that were unable to be salvaged were taken back to our warehouse in Greenford to be composted, helping to nourish the next generation of plants.
Across the two floors of the office building, we filled each designated space with lush, broad-leaved foliage. The pots on their first floor were a variety of natural textures in shades of green, grey, and light browns that felt wholly organic. We therefore chose plants that would evoke thoughts of wild natural growth, including Schefflera amate, Kentia palm, Philodendron xanadu, Ficus lyrata and Strelitzia nicolai.
This combination of textured pots and organic, free-flowing plants continued through to the ground floor and the company meeting room and coffee shop, where we placed additional plants such as Areca Palm, Calathea ‘Makoyana’ and a range of Philodendron.
Plant Designs provided us with a thorough consultation, showcasing an excellent understanding of our brand. They embraced our ethics and minimal waste policy, recycling as many of our existing plants and pots around our space as well as supplying lots of beautiful, new foliage. Their passion, knowledge, and creative vision helped to transform our studios into the urban oasis that it now is!Liam
