Becoming Living Wage accredited

Our Commitment to Paying Fair Wages in London
At Plant Designs, we recognise that one of our most important assets is our people. From our talented horticulturists to our dedicated admin staff, our company wouldn’t be able to function without them.
That’s why this year, we made the decision to become London Living Wage accredited to support our staff and contractors, committing to paying them a sustainable salary now and in the future. Read on for a little more information on what Living Wage accreditation means, and why we decided to make the move.

What is the Living Wage?
The Living Wage is a salary benchmark decided by the Resolution Foundation and overseen by the Living Wage commission, based on the cost of living. It is significantly higher than the minimum wage and is adjusted each year based on inflation. Given the higher costs associated with living in London, the city has its own higher Living Wage, specific to individuals living and working here.
The Living Wage is a voluntary system, meaning that employers may choose whether or not they wish to pay it.
What is London Living Wage accreditation?
The Living Wage commission offers a certification for businesses who commit to honouring the London Living Wage for all of their employees (temporary and permanent) and third-party contractors. It’s a sign to employees that their work is valued, and to clients and customers that you’re a responsible and people-centric employer

Why did you decide to become London Living Wage accredited?
While we have paid our staff the London Living Wage for some time now, we felt it was important to put our money where our mouth is, so to speak, and become accredited as a measure of our ongoing commitment. Our people are the foundation of our business, and we want to make sure they’re properly remunerated for the excellent work they do. Our LLW accreditation is an assurance that this commitment will remain central to our hiring processes and people management as we continue to grow as a business and a team.
